1. What is bakhoor?
Bakhoor is a luxurious, traditional Arabic incense made from a blend of aromatic woods, resins, essential oils, and other natural ingredients. It’s placed on a heated surface—such as charcoal, an electric burner, or the Dukhni Smokeless Burner—where it gently releases a rich, fragrant smoke. Bakhoor is often used to scent the home, create a soothing atmosphere, or enhance spiritual and special occasions.
2. Can I light the bakhoor directly?
Don’t light the piece of bakhoor directly. It won’t burn on its own and needs a heat source to release its fragrance. Use a medium like the Dukhni Smokeless Burner, charcoal, or an electric burner for best results.
3. How will I know the piece of bakhoor is over?
The piece of bakhoor does not melt or disintegrate. After 3.5 hours of continuous burning of a bakhoor piece on the Dukhni burner, all the oil in the piece will have diffused and the piece needs to be discarded inspite of the residual scent in the bakhoor that you will notice.
4. Can I reuse the same bakhoor piece?
No, bakhoor is meant for single use. After a full session of about 3 to 3.5 hours, the fragrance oils will have completely diffused. Even if the piece still looks intact, it should be discarded and replaced with a fresh one for the next use.
5. What type of candle should I use with the burner?
The box includes one tealight candle to get you started. After that, use an unscented 12g tealight candle with a 3.5-hour burn time for best results. You can easily find them online or at a local store.
6. Is it safe around children and pets?
Yes, when used with the Dukhni Smokeless Burner, it’s safe for homes with kids and pets. The low flame stays contained, and the bakhoor is non-toxic. We recommend keeping the burner on a stable surface and out of their reach during use.
